Frequently asked questions about kinesiology

What should I expect during a session?

In your initial consultation we will go through your new client history form.  This is a discussion regarding the issues you would like to work on. With this information, we will set a goal for the session based on your presenting concerns. It may help to reflect on what you may want to achieve for yourself.

You will be lying on a massage table fully clothed with your shoes off, where we will begin the muscle testing and utilising the relevant Kinesiology techniques which pertain to your goal.  These techniques include methods to clear any energy imbalances.

Some applications involved may be:

  • Collaborative counselling

  • Chinese meridian flow corrections

  • Light touch, gentle rubbing or tapping acupressure points

  • Stress release techniques

  • Belief System Reframing

  • Clearing Sabotage Patterns

  • Age Recession

  • Aromatherapy

  • Nutrition

  • Chiropractic muscle testing

How long does a kinesiology session go for?

A standard kinesiology session including follow up and discussion of presenting concerns is generally around 90 minutes in duration.

How many sessions will I need?

The number and frequency of sessions is individualised depending on your presenting circumstances.  The more chronic/complex the issue this may require 3-5 sessions spaced closer together.  Whereas some people may only require 1-2 sessions.  Once your issue stabilises then it is up to you.  Some people choose to book in every couple of months or whenever they feel ready for another session.  Alternatively we can muscle test when the next recommended session is, completely up to you.

What should I wear?

Sessions are usually conducted on a massage table fully clothed with shoes off.  It is recommended to wear loose and comfortable clothes such as pants where your body can move freely, this is due to the muscle testing application of moving legs and arms in different positions.

What should I bring with me to my session?

If you are a new client please fill in the client intake questionnaire form and bring this with you to your initial appointment. This form is available to download from my website or it can be emailed to you.  I do provide water, you are welcome to bring your own water bottle if you prefer.

I’ve got a lot of things I’d like to work on. Where should I start?

If you have more than one issue that you would like to work not a problem we can discuss this in your initial consultation and explore which one is the priority issue.  Additionally, we can muscle test the priority issue and use this as a starting point.

Does what we talk about remain confidential?

Confidentiality is one of the most important components between a client and practitioner. Successful therapy requires a high degree of trust with highly sensitive subject matter that is usually not discussed anywhere but the therapist's office.   All information you provide is kept confidential and secure at all times. The law protects the relationship between a client and a counsellor, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission. However, state law and professional ethics require therapists to maintain confidentiality except for the following situations:

  • Legal court subpoena, or if I identify an imminent threat of harm to you or another person I may decide, without obligation to do so, to report that information.

  • Mandated to report the abuse of a child under 16 years of age.

  • Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.

  • If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.
